Encounter
163. ENCOUNTER - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on a 11 x 14 size coquille board. It illustrates the story, "Encounter," that appears in the paperback, "Destinies No.3."
When I was in the preliminary pencil stage of this drawing and had rendered most of it, I thought it needed something more. I ended up putting in those globes ala Virgil Finlay, who had the habit of filling up many of his drawings with bubbles and/or sparkles. The fact is that my favorite artists; Finlay, Cartier, Lawrence, Raymond, (Flash Gordon) and many others, are inside me and it's a struggle to keep them from popping up and interfering with my artwork. But that's OK, as long as they don't overdo it.
