The Desert of Stolen Dreams 2

445. THE DESERT OF STOLEN DREAMS 2Four black ink and gray pencil drawings on an 11 x 14 vellum paper. They appear in the book, "The Desert of Stolen Dreams," by Robert Silverberg, published by Underwood-Miller in 1981.

Please note that in each of the top two drawings there is a huge "moon" dominating the night sky, and in the lower left drawing there is a huge disk with "rays" emanating outward that dominates the sky.

A long time ago someone wrote to me declaring that I was a "lunatic" because almost all of my drawings, that he saw, featured a "moon" in the sky. And so, for a little while I avoided putting a moon in any of my drawings. For about a week. And then I decided to ignore the critic and if I wanted a moon in one of my drawings, I put one there.

I just went through all 500 pictures in this website and found 50 containing "moons". That's 10%. I don't think that makes me a "lunatic"!

Critics, they just bring misery to an artist's life. I know, I know, I've done a bit of criticism myself, here on my website. But gosh, I never stooped to calling them names!

Well, maybe I did, once . . . I think I referred to him as a nut, or moron . . . -
