DAEMON 11
499. DAEMON 11 - A black ink and gray pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size vellum paper. It is part of the "Daemon" series I started for "Fantastic Stories". - No one from the editor's office at "Fantastic Stories," notified me that publication had ended, but I stopped working on the series because I read about the demise of both Amazing and Fantastic magazine's in a fanzine. Actually, I was relieved, I had been working on this project day and night, it had become a huge burden. But though I was relieved, I was also disappointed because I was no longer going to get any more assignments from either magazine. Sadly, here were two more magazines that once played a major role during the Golden Age of science fiction, that had come to an end.

I have finally come to realize just how lucky and wealthy I really am; I own a finer personal conveyance than all the kings and emperors in ages past were able to own, my "automobile" is comfortable, water proof, climate controlled, has a radio/phone/CD player, and a GPS system that guides me to my destination, while Napoleon, who at one time had command of most of Europe, had to ride on a horse to get around . . .
I own luxuries that Julius Caesar never dreamed about; my home is climate controlled all year round; it is automatically heated on cold winter days and cooled on hot summer nights, while Caeser suffered cold and drafty winters huddled by a fireplace, and suffered hot and sweaty summers. . .
I have a giant flat-screen color Television set that brings me news events of any importance from all over the world within minutes of their happening, while Spain's Queen Isabella had to wait a year to find out what the hell happened to Columbus? - And how envious would she and all the people of her time be, after seeing that my TV set also brings me the world's greatest entertainers and sports events to watch while I lounge on a soft cushy sofa? . . .
With my cellphone, computer, and the internet I can communicate with just about anyone and show them my gallery of artwork, no matter where they live on this planet. - How do I measure all the wealth that I have?
